God’s blessings are abundant and sometimes come in different forms.
Madline says:
"My life with Lawrence (Larry) began when we were married on the island of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. From that day forward, we shared a life filled with love for each other and for our families. Our children, our lives and our careers were right on target. We made plans for our future and lived each moment to its fullest. Larry was energetic, enthusiastic, aggressive, upbeat, creative and happy. He made everyone around him enjoy life. He had a passion for golf and camping and our travels, whether by car, van or motor home, always encompassed camp ground stays, golf courses, sightseeing, antiques shops and whatever else the countryside had to offer. We were receiving God’s blessings and were truly grateful. We purchased a new house, I loved my job and he, being a high school principal, had just been given a new campus nearer our home. Perfect…
My mother was visiting us for a few weeks, because after the “big move” to the new campus on that last day (June 26, 1997), Larry would be on vacation for a while and we had plans. My mother was always a “happy camper”. At the end of the day, he was exhausted from the very hot physical day but we kept a dinner engagement with friends and returned home fairly early. Before retiring, Larry visited with my mother a few minutes and then went to bed. When I joined him later, he was having difficulty getting comfortable. We drifted off to sleep.
God’s blessings are abundant and sometimes come in different forms. Another blessing came on June 27, (the next day) at 3:00 a.m. My husband arose to go to the restroom and had a problem walking. As if awakened by God from a deep sleep I became aware of his leaning body going down. Through the darkness in the room, I could see his silhouette clearly and leaped across the bed to catch him. He weighed a little over two hundred pounds so this feat was surely not done by me alone. As I walked with him, I can still hear the flat footed slapping of his left foot on the floor. I knew then he was having a stroke. From then on I functioned proficiently but like a robot in a daze.
