Care
Partner of the Month
-March / April
page 2

Mary Ida Vandross
Philadelphia, PA
(with Hazella)
Mary Ida had always
urged Luther to slow down and take better care of himself. She worried
about his health but was powerless in changing his lifestyle. On April
16, 2003 the unthinkable happened. She received word that her only
pride and joy had suffered a massive stroke. Her world was completely
shattered. How could God allow such a thing to happen to her only
surviving child? She herself was facing major health issues that kept
her on a strict medical regimen and precluded her from frequent travel.
She was torn between staying by her sons side and following
her own doctors orders.
Today her son is stable and continues to rehabilitate but a lot of
damage was done and the healing process is slow and tedious. Mrs.
Vandross spends her days in constant prayer for Luther and trusts
that no more will happen than she can bear. Even so, she feels at
times that her heart is literally breaking
that she can take
the pain no longer
that shell awaken from this nightmare
and everything will be alright. But day after day, week after week,
month after month shes had to suffer a moment at a time, silently
and alone in her grief. Her pain is unspeakable. But through it all
she knows who her Shepherd is and shes obedient to His Word.
She fears no evil and holds fast to the power of Gods goodness
and mercy.
Mary Ida Youre one of a kind;
a real class act! STROKE OF HOPE honors you, salutes you
and will continue to support you and your family in whatever way we
can.
