Meet Dr. Olajide Williams

Olajide Williams, M.D., M.S.

 
 

Dr Olajide Williams obtained his medical degree from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He completed his residency and fellowship programs at Columbia University Medical Center and received a Masters degree from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.

He is an Associate Director of Neurology of the Department of Neurology at Columbia University, Director of Operations of Harlem Hospital Stroke Center, and Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology at Columbia University. He has authored numerous scientific articles and book chapters, and is one of nine members of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke External Review Group panel for the Clinical Research Collaboration charged with connecting American communities to National Institute of Health research.


His contributions to medicine, has earned Dr Williams several prestigious awards. These include; the New York City Health and Hospital Corporation Urban Health Award for mitigating health care disparities, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University Distinguished Teacher Award, Columbia University Gold Foundation Award for Humanism in Medicine and Excellence in Teaching, the Mailman school of Public Health Columbia University Paul Burgess Award, the Network Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 award, the NAACP Community Service Award, and the Salvation Army Community Service Award. In 2006, he received a National Humanism in Medicine Award recognition from the Association of American Medical Colleges – a feat that was featured in USA Today.

Dr Williams is a National Media Spokesperson for the National Stroke Association; he is on the National Spokespersons panel of the American Heart Association; he is on the steering committee for the American Heart Association’s Community Impact Grant Program, and the board of Directors for the Stroke of Hope foundation. Dr Williams currently practices medicine at Columbia University Medical Center and Harlem Hospital Center and regularly teaches 3rd and 4th year medical students at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University.

He is board certified in Neurology and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
